Greetings! The dog days of August are upon us. As we approach the peak of the hurricane season, it is important to make sure that you have a preparation plan in place. Although we are not back to full capacity yet, we are starting to see a few events pop up here and there throughout the Charleston area. Here are a few things to take note of this August.
22: 21st Race for the ARK
We continue to gain national and global attention as Charleston was named the Top City in the US by Conde Nast Travel and Leisure Magazine for the 8th consecutive year! Charleston came in at 18 for the best cities in the World. Home buyers continue moving to the Charleston area. A lot of data showing a transition out of the larger metropolitan areas.
Our local real estate market has been extremely busy! Our previous record for buying activity was in the spring of 2018 when 458 residential properties went under contract in one week. It has usually been about 400-425 each week in the spring over the past few years. However, each of the last 12 weeks has surpassed that record from 2018. And we’ve gone over 500 several times. In the middle of a pandemic, that’s pretty amazing! We think that many people from the northeast have decided it’s time to get out of there and move to the best city in the US. Many are buying without actually coming to see the home. They are relying simply on the 3D visual tour because of the travel restrictions. 2019 was a record year for Charleston real estate sales, but 2020 seems on a pace now to surpass that. But who knows what tomorrow brings in this crazy world!
As always, we are committed to providing our clients with an unparalleled level of service whether buying or selling a home. We strive to have our clients feel and experience our commitment to them while helping accomplish their real estate goals. That is truly what it is all about! Please let us know how we can help you!
