Our real estate market continues to move towards perhaps a record year.  2017 had just under 18k transactions.  This year may exceed that.  It’s going to be very close.  Charleston was ranked as the #1 destination in the US by Travel and Leisure Magazine for the 9th year in a row.  That’s just crazy.  And it’s brought a lot of people moving into town and seeking a home.  Year to date, we’ve had just a few more transactions than the same 2018 time period.  But we expect the last 4 months of 2019 to be better than those of 2018.  A few MLS areas are up over 10% in terms of transactions over the same 2018 period. These areas include Folly Beach, N Charleston outside 526, Mt Pleasant north of the IOP connector, Jedburg, and the Wando/Cainhoy area.  And median sales price is up 4.1% to an all time high of $283k.   Wallethub named Mt Pleasant the fastest growing small city in the US and the 2nd fastest growing city overall.  Mt P also ranked #1 for median household income growth, job growth, and growth in share of college educated population.
