Our real estate market got off to a rocky start is January. Jan of 2019 was 16% less busy than Jan of 2018.  However, we correctly suspected that may have been due to the government shutdown.  We bounced back with a strong February and now we are only down about 3% in terms of transactions year to date compared with the same 2018 time period. Feb 2019 was up 32% over Jan 2019 in terms of transactions. Feb 2019 was up 10% over Feb 2018. The median sales price is up 3.8% to $272k YTD.  The economy is booming around Charleston. Tourism, Boeing, Volvo, Mercedes Sprint Vans, breweries and distilleries and great restaurants all over, and the IT boom known as Silicon Harbor are driving the economy and the real estate market. The weather is pleasant most of the year and we are getting a lot of recognition.  We are regularly voted #1 City in the US by Travel and Leisure Magazine. And SC is also getting a lot of good press. Clemson has won a couple of national football championships, and Coastal Carolina has won a national baseball championship.  It’s a great time to be in SC and Charleston!
